Georg von Krogh was born in Oslo, Norway. He is a Professor at ETH Zurich and holds the Chair of Strategic Management and Innovation. Chairing the Global Advisory Board that advises the President of ETH Zurich in matters regarding its international strategy. He also serves on the Strategy Commission at ETH Zurich and the Risk Management Commission at ETH Zurich.

von Krogh serves as Chairman of the International Advisory Board at the Research Council of Norway. He holds an honorary position as Research Fellow at Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, and is an Affiliated Scholar with the Laboratory for Innovation Science (LISH) at Harvard University. He is also an Associated Faculty Member at the Artificial Intelligence Center at ETH Zurich.

von Krogh specializes in competitive strategy, digital innovation, and organisational knowledge. He has conducted research in several industries including financial services, media, computer software and hardware, life -​sciences, and consumer goods. He teaches courses on Entrepreneurial Leadership, Strategic Management, and Innovation Theory and Research. He received his MSc from the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology at the Norwegian University of Technology and Natural Science, and a Ph.D. from this University's Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management. He has served on the faculties at SDA Bocconi, Bocconi University, and BI Norwegian Business School. He was a Professor of Management at the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland, and a Director of this University's Institute of Management (1994-2006). He was President of the Research Commission at the University of St. Gallen. He has been Visiting Professor at MIT's Sloan School of Management, Hitotsubashi University in Japan, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was the Head of the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics at ETH Zurich during 2008-​​2011, and served on the National Research Council of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) during 2012-2020. From 2008 to 2014 he was a board member of the European Academy of Management (EURAM), and currently serves on the Scientific Council at EURAM. In 2020 he was elected as Chair of the Global Advisory Board (GBA) of ETH Zurich, advising in matters regarding the international strategy of ETH Zurich, and in 2021 he was appointed to the Risk Management Committee at ETH Zürich.

von Krogh has consulted on strategy and trained executives for companies in Asia, Europe, and the USA. His experience as board-​​ or advisory board/public interest committee member covers various companies and NGOs, including PwC Switzerland, Swiss Bank Corporation (UBS), the SKAT Foundation, and the World Web Forum. He is a member of a Chapter Board at the Swiss-​​American Chamber of Commerce, and a previous Academic Fellow and Faculty Member of the World Economic Forum (2002-​​2007).

His awards and recognitions include for example the Association of American Publishers' "Best Professional Business Book Award", Harvard Business Review's "Breakthrough Idea,” ETH's Teaching Award "Goldene Eule,” and various awards from the Academy of Management. In 2020, he was awarded the prestigious Fellow of the European Academy of Management. He serves as an active member on the College of Fellows at EURAM.
